2nd Declension Neuter Nouns

Genitive -ôrum
Dative -îs
Accusative -um -a
Ablative -îs
Vocative -um -a

 

  1. In neuter nouns, the nominative and accusative always take the same form
  2. In neuter plural nouns, the nominative and accusative always end in -a
  3. Neuter nouns are modified by adjectives that take 2nd declension neuter endings

  1. Remember the verb endings:

Sentence Types:

1. Linking:
 
Nominative subject Linking verb Nom. Subject Complement
Pirata  est  Românus

2. Transitive: verb CAN take a direct object (but does NOT have to: puella videt --  the girl sees)

3. Intransitive: verb CANNOT take a direct object (ambulat -- he/she walks)
